📜 Histoire

Wuyuan was historically one of the six counties of ancient Huizhou, and its culture is deeply rooted in the Huizhou (Hui) tradition. The villages, such as Likeng and Jiangwan, flourished during the Ming and Qing dynasties as homes to wealthy merchants and scholars. The architecture is characterized by white walls, black tiles, and intricate wood, brick, and stone carvings, reflecting the prosperity of the Hui merchant class.
