📜 Histoire

The Anyuan Coal Mine, established in 1898, was one of the first modern industrial enterprises in China and a key part of the Hanyeping Iron and Coal Company. It played a pivotal role in China's early industrialization. More significantly, Anyuan is the birthplace of the Chinese labor movement; in 1922, Mao Zedong and Liu Shaoqi organized the famous Anyuan Miners' Strike here, which was a landmark event in the history of the Communist Party of China. The site remains a powerful symbol of China's transition from an agrarian society to an industrial power and a revolutionary heartland.
