Sanqing Mountain is named after the 'Three Pure Ones,' the highest deities in the Taoist pantheon, whose three peaks represent them. Its history as a Taoist retreat dates back over 1,600 years to the Jin Dynasty, when the alchemist Ge Hong practiced there. The mountain features a wealth of ancient Taoist architecture, including temples and carvings that have survived for centuries.
