Bayi Square
Bayi Square (August 1st Square) is one of the largest city squares in China and the symbolic heart of Nanchang. Named after the August 1st Nanchang Uprising that marked the birth of the People's Liberation Army, the square features a towering monument and serves as a gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
đ History
Bayi Square was originally built in 1952 as People's Square. It was later expanded and renamed to commemorate the August 1st Nanchang Uprising of 1927, which marked the birth of the People's Liberation Army. The Monument to the Nanchang Uprising at its center was completed in 1979.
