The August 1st Nanchang Uprising Memorial Hall commemorates the historic event on August 1, 1927, when the first shots of the armed uprising against the Kuomintang were fired, marking the birth of the People's Liberation Army. The museum is located in the former Jiangxi Grand Hotel, which served as the headquarters for the uprising leaders including Zhou Enlai and He Long.
