Donglin Temple

Donglin Temple was founded in 386 AD by the eminent monk Huiyuan during the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It is historically significant as the birthplace of the Pure Land (Jingtu) sect of Buddhism. For over 1,600 years, it has been a major center for Buddhist pilgrimage and scholarship. The temple is famous for the 'Three Laughs at Tiger Brook' legend, symbolizing the harmonious meeting of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. Nestled at the foot of Mount Lu, it remains one of China's most influential spiritual landmarks.
